Chapter Seven
Used By Permission
Who owns the Holy Bible? Is it God’s Holy Word or does it
belong to certain groups of men? This seems to be a ridiculous question. But is
it really? What is the evidence of ownership? When you read a spiritual book or
booklet look behind the “Cover Page.” What do you find written? Here is a
sample:
“ All scriptures
marked NIV (New International Version), copyright 1978,1984 are used by
permission from Zondervan; all scripture marked NASV (New American Standard
Version), are copyright 1969-1995 used by permission from Lockman
Foundation; all scriptures marked NKJV (New King James Versions), copyright
1982 are used by permission from Thomas Nelson, Inc; all other scriptures
are marked KJV (King James Version).
Where is the permission for the last one? No permission
needed for God’s Holy Word. Which one of these is the Holy Bible?
Getting permission from Zondervan, Lockman, or Nelson means they, by legal
copyright law, own these so-called “bibles!” And yes, these “bibles”
are copyrighted – look behind the “cover page” of each of these and all
others (except one) and you will see the copyright. The only Bible that is not
copyrighted is the KING JAMES BIBLE. Yes, it alone can claim that title
as it belongs to the ALL MIGHTY GOD. You may freely quote it and even
print your own copy!
Remember in chapter one that these so-called “bibles”
left out whole, complete verses? They “own” these “versions” so they
can alter and change any part of it they decide. According to Revelation
22:18-19 this is forbidden! “For I testify unto man that heareth the words
of this prophesy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God
shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book (verse 18). And
if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God
shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city and
from the things which are written in this book (verse 19).”
This sounds like the Almighty God (Preserver of His Word)
takes this seriously! His “Holy Words” have been faithfully guarded by His
Church through the centuries. Now it is our time. As Paul wrote: “Now ye are
the Body of Christ (the Church), and members in particular” (I Corinthians
12:27). To what purpose? “That there should be no schism (split or division)
in the body, but that the members should have the same care one for
another” (I Corinthians 12:25). Remember that on the eve of His crucifixion,
Jesus Christ prayed to the Father of “oneness,” that we (His Church) “may
be one, as Thou, Father, art in Me, and I in Thee, that they also may
be one in Us: that the world my believe that thou hast sent me” (John
17:21).
Paul reminds us of this “oneness” in Ephesians 4:4-6:
“There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one
hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one
God and Father of all”. Further in chapter six in this same Epistle, Paul
explains about the “Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God”
(verse 17). As there is only “one Spirit,” there is only one Word.
Why is this important? Do you want all of God’s Word, or
just most of it? On average 90% of all the “modern bible versions”
are accurate in scripture. It is often asked, “Can someone be converted by
using these versions?” And the answer is –YES. However, “spiritual
growth” is hindered. Say if you attend (or, attended) a college or
University, would you purchase a text book for your Science class, or your
Math class, or your Language class, or any other class; when that text book had about 10% of
its context missing? Why no, of course not. You want a full and complete
education, as well as an “A” grade in these courses. With 10% missing,
both goals could not be met, as you only have 90 percent of the text.
We need to be vigilant about God’s
Truth, as those in the town of Berea. Luke reminds us that “these were more
noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the Word with all
readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things
(that Paul and Silus were teaching) were so. Therefore many of them believed”
(Acts 17: 10-12). We need to be practicing Bereans today. Why? Because about
10% of the modern versions of God’s Book have passages (even words) missing,
and passages changed to the point that it does affect “doctrine”
(teaching). I shall relate several of the main ones in this chapter.
Notice the warning of the Apostle John to the church: “…many
deceivers are entered into the world…whosoever transgresseth (by deceiving
others), and abideth not in the Doctrine (teachings) of Christ, hath not God. He
that abideth in the Doctrine (teachings) of Christ, he hath both the Father and
the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him
not into your house…” (II John 7, 9-10). Receiving bibles that are not fully
“God breathed” also should not be done. Notice what else John wrote: “…this
is a deceiver and an Anti-Christ “ (II John 7).
Leaving whole passages and changing passages go against the
teachings of Christ, and is working against Christ. Also, leaving out dozens and
dozens of words like “Holy”, “blood”, “Lord”, and many others also
brings down our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! Here are only a few of the “modern
bible” changes that directly attack and alter God’s teachings that we are to
trust as well as to obey. The following are examples:
1. The Virgin Birth
of Jesus Christ’s mother, Mary is changed: “Behold
a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call His name Immanuel”
(Isaiah 7:14 – KJB). The modern versions replace “a virgin” with “a
young woman!”
2. Christ the
Creator is questioned by both the
NIV the NASV and other versions in Ephesians 3:9 where they leave out “by
Jesus Christ” (KJB) and end the verse “…God, who created all things.”
3. The Eternality
of Jesus Christ that He is God is
again not supported by the NIV the NASV and other versions in Daniel 3:25 where
they note that the fourth being in the fiery furnace is just “a son of the
gods,” instead of “like the Son of God” (KJB)!
4. Jesus Christ as
our Saviour is challenged by the NIV, leaving most of Luke
9:56 out with the NASV and others questioning that this is “not in (certain)
manuscripts”. In the King James Bible (KJB) it clearly states “For the Son
of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them” (this part is
left out). How bold to question why our Saviour came. John 3:17 states “for God
sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through
Him might be saved.” By the way those “certain” manuscripts are the
Vaticanus and Sinaiticus from Alexander, Egypt, now
housed by the Vatican.
5. Belief on
Jesus Christ as our Saviour is put
in doubt when “on Me” is left out of most new versions in John 6:47 as it
states “Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that beleveth on Me hath
eternal life.” Instead these others just have “he who believes.”
Believes what?
6. Salvation is
difficult is raised by the newer versions in Mark 10:24 as
the phrase “them that trust in riches” is left out to make it say: “children,
how hard is it to enter the kingdom of God.”
Christ told us in Mathew 11:30 “My yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
7. The Importance
of the Shedding of Christ’s Blood
is disputed in the NIV, NASV, and the others by leaving out “through His blood”
in Colossians 1:14. The King James Bible preserves this important phrase: “In
whom we have redemption through His Blood, even the forgiveness of sins.”
Notice Paul’s admonition to elders: “…feed the church of God which He hath
purchased with His Own Blood. For I know this, that after my departing
shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also, of your
own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples
after them” (Acts 20:28-30). False epistles were even circulating in the first
century, some even purported (claimed) to be
by Paul. Remember that Paul warned that some bring “another gospel” (totally
different), but “some that trouble you (give you a guilt trip) and would pervert
(by subtle changes) the Gospel of Christ” (Galatians 1:6-7). The different
bible versions only contribute to this deception as new ones are published every
year. This resulting confusion helps the division of congregations to continue.
Let’s get back to the ONE BOOK that the Almighty God both inspired and
preserved. The language of the present world we live in is primarily “English”.
Only one English Bible has lasted 400 years – that of the 1611 King James
Bible – which is the only one that qualifies to have the title “Holy Bible.”
No other English Bible has lasted even for one Century, let alone four! The
Geneva Bible of 1560 lasted until 1644 when it was no longer printed. It lasted
84 years, the second longest.
We need to be sensitive, as Paul was, about this grave
matter. Notice Paul’s concern in Philippians 3:18-19 – “(For many walk,
of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they
are the enemies of the Cross of Christ: whose end is destruction…).” I
have cited only 7 examples of hundreds – no, thousands of changes from the
modern versions compared to the 1611 King James Bible, which is based solely
on the “Received Text” of over 5,500 manuscripts preserved (with God’s
oversight) by the Christian Church from the first century. The new versions
use almost 100% of their foundation on only two manuscripts, Vaticanus and
Sinaiticus – both from Alexandria,
Egypt. Only parts of 43 other manuscripts come form this false, gnostic line.
Thus the foundation of the KJB has over 99% of all known Greek manuscripts for
the accuracy of the New Testament.
David W. Daniels lists in detail 257 major changes from the
KJB to the newer versions using 192 pages! (Look What’s Missing; 2009
by David W. Daniels). In Which Bible Can We Trust Les Garnett complies
909 changes in his book of over 300 pages. In his work, The “Doctored”
New Testament (by which it means the distortions of Westcott’s and Hort’s
Greek Text), D.A. Waite, Jr. denotes thousands of changes in well over 700
pages. Remember that Westcott’s and Hort’s text was based on the mentioned
above corrupted texts (Codex Vaticanus and Codex Sinaiticus).
This writing is to show briefly and clearly that our Lord
and Saviour Jesus Christ and His Gospel is attacked boldly. Thus it must be
exposed boldly! “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of
darkness, but rather reprove (expose) them” (Ephesians 5:11).
An “appendix” is added after the last chapter to address
other concerns about the King James Bible of 1611. A “bibliography” is
supplied for those who would seek further insight on this subject.
